Nordic Melange

What do you get when you combine a nordic fiddle with a sarod and toss in a little bit of an exotic beat? I asked myself that question while playing around with Garage Band this afternoon and here is what I came up with.

Nordic Melange.m4a

All of the tracks used to create the song were included with the Garage Band software. I couldn’t find any restrictions on how they are or are not to be used, so in the spirt of sharing I’m going to put a Creative Commons Attribution license on to this song.

    Hi,
I wanted to listen to your nordic melange, but you seem to have removed it. I happen to be the musician playing the “nordic fiddle” in the Garageband loop. Did it years ago and it continues to pop up now and then. I have a small collection of samples from people who have used the nordic fiddle loops and I’d like very much to include your version (Once it was even used by CNN for a short jingle!).
On my myspace site you can listen to one of the versions I did in Garageband called Nordic What!?. The nordic fiddle here is really a keyed fiddle, nyckelharpa, very weird and Swedish…..
    cheers

Hi Jan! Small world - thanks for the great loop! Sorry about the missing file - the broken link has been fixed and you can now listen to the song. Enjoy!

    Thanks Amy,
nice arabic touch there. Seems that this utterly Swedish instruments tends to be used with eastern sounds.
