[...] I’m quite chuffed to find out that I should be a journalist, according to the fifteenth psychometric test I’ve done this month – results from these tests are rarely revelations, but they can give you useful confirmation that you’re mentally heading in the right direction.
Mark - I agree with you completely that poor Descartes statment has become very distorted in pop culture, however, for the puprose of this quiz I think that the author was trying to appeal to that reference. Yet another piece of evidence to show that this isn't the most scientific of quizzes. Too bad about your jazz fingers - I think you make a rather witty Thespian!

Nathan - cute joke! Funny, but sadly I can totally relate - I can't fix a computer but I can ramble on indefinetely about the possiblity of the computer being conscious or not.

Amy, I just realised that your combination of philosophy and computer science was an interesting one... I think I remember a comedian once said he'd done a degree in computer science and psychology, so he couldn't fix a computer, but he knew just how it was feeling when it broke down...

OK, I'll get my coat...

Yes, good point, "I think, therefore I am" was a pretty obvious selection. But I ranked it quite low because it is a fallacious inference. Strickly, from the presmise "I think", the only thing that follows that there "there is a thinking thing". In fact, in the original latin, its 'cogito, ergo sum', makes it easier to see this. Additional work has to be be done to show that I (or you, or anyone else) is identical to the cogito, that is, the thinking.

But yes, there's a lovely Theatre department here. I could brush up on my Ibsen, and wear black turtle-necks, and be ever so existential in my tastes. It would be a hoot; but alas, I don't think my jazz-fingers are all that good.

Interesting results from both of you! Nathan - I can see why you scored so high for Journalism as you are a great writer and I have had many laughs reading both your daily and travel blogs. Mark - does Cornell have a Theatre department you can transfer to? LOL - I honestly cannot believe that you scored so low in philosophy and so high in Theatre and Biology, esp. when the philosophy oriented questions were pretty cliché ("I think therefore I am" is one that comes to mind). I don't think that this quiz is very scientific or balanced (or recent since it doesn’t even list CS as a major) and even though I'm pretty happy with my results I would by no means use this test to make or evaluate any life choices!

This is me (hope it comes out)... mathematics coming at the bottom is no surprise, but I might have given more weight to philosophy... ah well, that's why you do these tests I suppose, the attempt to show empirically how your head works, just in case your own opinion is no use!
